Cellular Concrete and Maxxon® MR Installation

Structis poured up to 3 inches of cellular concrete to level the floor to keep the weight being applied to the old subfloor down, followed by the installation of sound mat to enhance sound mitigation. Over the sound mat, Maxxon® MR was applied for reinforcement before pouring up to 1-1/2 inches of Maxxon® Gyp-Crete® 2000 Multifamily flooring.

The floors were extremely unlevel, exhibited numerous open holes, and penetrations, and lacked the capacity to support additional weight. Structis applied Maxxon® Moistop to partially waterproof the floors and utilized leveling pegs to gauge the required fill thickness. To minimize weight, up to 3 inches of cellular concrete was used instead of Gyp-Crete. Given the open truss design, a sound mat was then installed over the cellular concrete for sound mitigation. Over the sound mat, Maxxon® MR was applied to reinforce the cellular concrete, followed by pouring up to 1-1/2 inches of Maxxon® Gyp-Crete® 2000 Multifamily flooring.
